A brief history of KSAI...
Ira "Smitty" Kannel founded Superior Insurance Agency in 1958 – his office was located in the basement of the home he shared with his wife Marilyn and four children. Serving mostly rural clients, Ira named his agency after Superior Township. When he moved the office into town in the 1960s, he changed the name to Kannel Superior Agency. In 1973, Ira moved the agency to its current location at 301 West Main Street.
Ira's son Mike joined his father in 1972 and now serves as president of the agency. Under Mike's leadership, the agency has seen impressive expansion and now serves nearly 2,000 clients throughout the region with products including auto, home, business, commercial, life and health insurance. The agency completed incorporation in the 1990s to become Kannel Superior Agency, Inc. (KSAI).
In 2010, more than 50 years after its founding, Mike's son Chris joined the agency. As the third generation, Chris brings a new perspective to the history, commitment, and reputation of Kannel Superior Agency, Inc.
